Steve began his real estate career in 1971 shortly after graduating from the University of Virginia. In 1975 he opened his own brokerage, working out of his home. Through the years, Steven G. Walther, Inc. Realtor grew and eventually the Walther’s purchased a building on Titus Avenue in 1986. Through the years Steve Walther’s office was known as the Hometown Realtor of Irondequoit. Steve and his agents were knowledgeable of Irondequoit and the surrounding suburbs and became a pillar in the community. The name Walther was associated with Irondequoit and the community relied on Steve and his agents as the go-to people when it came to buying or selling. Steve’s son Greg joined the business in 1999 and his daughter Erica joined in 2003.

Steve retired in 2021 after 49 years as a member of the Greater Rochester Association of Realtors. Despite all the advances in technology and the changes in the industry,  he always said, “Real Estate is and always will be a people business.” It is a business that thrives on personal relationships and the ability to make people feel comfortable when pursuing one of the largest financial transactions they will encounter.
